Living on the streets is a tough experience for cats. To put this in perspective, the average life expectancy of an outdoor cat is four years, while indoor cats easily live 15-20 years, or even more. That’s if they even manage to make it to adulthood. Alarmingly, eight out of 10 street kittens die within their first six months. Through programs like Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR), vaccinations, foster programs and ultimately adoption, we help downtown street cats live longer, healthier lives and ultimately become pampered uptown cats. This is the way of downtown uptown cats.
About us
We are based in Greece, which has a very large street cat population. There is also a lot of disease in many cat colonies here. With the gap in the government programs that are supposed to help the cats, a lot of the time it falls on private individuals to do what needs to be done to help make a difference. That is what we are working to do, often one kitty at a time.
What we do
We work with private individuals (and donate our own time and money) to help improve the lives of the street cats of Greece. We welcome donations from anyone that has visited this beautiful country and wanted to help the cats here, but doesn’t know how. And if you fall in love with a kitten you find on your vacation, we can help you get them back to your home country.
